In today’s world, finding a locally owned business for your next purchase can be challenging. It can be tempting to just pick up everything you need at the nearest big box store. Don’t make that mistake when it comes to buying a new mattress! You’ll be overpaying even when it seems like you’re getting a good deal. Ask yourself these 5 questions when looking to purchase a new mattress.

Where Is This Mattress Made?

Many mattresses that you find online or at big box stores are mass produced outside of North America. That means more opportunities for manufacturer defects and even damage during shipping. At your local Bed’r Mattress, every single mattress in our store is made in North America. In fact, the majority of our mattresses are handcrafted in Tennessee. We visit our manufacturers and even oversee production at times.

What Is This Mattress Made Of?

You might find that some manufacturers put a “natural” label on their products to entice customers. Know that “natural” is not a regulated term and can be used on almost any product. Additionally, you might see words like “latex foam”. Know that there are different types of latex.

One is far less expensive to produce as it is synthetic, while the other is naturally sourced from a rubber tree.

How Organic Is This Mattress?

Often you’ll see the term “organic” on a label. A product can have organic ingredients but may not be “certified organic”. It may indeed be a healthier choice. However, there is a possibility that the markup in price isn’t justified as it would be for a fully certified organic product.  In order to be “certified organic”, at least 95% of the ingredients have to be certified organic individually. Check out our Essentia mattresses that are made in a GOTS & GOLS certified organic facility.

What Is The Warranty?

Anytime a major purchase is made, taking a good look at the warranty is a good idea. Many of our mattresses at your locally owned Bed’r Mattress carry a Forever Warranty! The length of the warranty is a good guideline for you to determine what the manufacturer really expects the life of the product to be.

Who Can Help Me If I Have A Problem?

This might be the most important question! Service after the sale is almost non-existent at big box stores. When you trust us with your sleep needs, we take it seriously. If you ever have an issue you’re just a phone call away from a real person who is eager to help.
