With the holiday season quickly approaching, most of us have eagerly expecting to be housing guests as they visit at least once, possibly a few times over the next couple of months. Your guests, whether family or friends, are not expecting a being served breakfast in bed type stay, I’m sure, but as the host you want to be as good to them as you can and make life easy. Here are a few tips to ensure your guests feel right at home, while away from home, and to make the preparation as simple and stress free for you as possible.

1) Have extra bedding/ pillows available

Having new sheets and extra bedding will help your guests feel more comfortable.  Place a few extra blankets in the room for those who may need them. It is also a great idea to have extra pillows available. Individuals are picky about pillows and often take their personal pillow with them when they travel. Not every person likes the flat, feathered pillow or the firm, thick memory foam pillow, so having options to choose from can assist in providing your guests with a bed’r night’s sleep. Sheets, pillows, mattress protectors, and other bedding accessories can be purchased at the Bed’r Mattress location nearest you (mention this blog and receive 15% off any accessory purchase)

2) Have a Bedside Table with a Lamp or Softer Lighting in the Room

Instead of only having the option of a bright overhead light, provide a lamp or nightlight in the room. This will prevent your guests from having to turn the lights off then blindly feel their way in to bed and provide a more soothing light that is easier on the eyes before going to sleep and when waking, if necessary.  The table can also serve as a mainstay for your guests’ items, so they don’t forget where they place things.

3) Have Accessories Available for Guest Use

There are several things the come to mind which would fall in this category. Have extra toothbrushes and toothpaste. Place a couple extra towels in the bathroom. Provide a universal charger in case your guest may forget theirs. Place a bottle of water in the room so the guest doesn’t have to tip toe through your house in the middle of the night if they get thirsty. Add a lot of these items to your guest room for next to nothing, most of them you can find at a Dollar Tree!

Wishing you a happy, healthy holiday season!
