With the arrival of shorter days and cooler nights comes the back-to-school busyness. We try to savor the last days of summer while gathering up everything we need on our supply lists. Schedules will change, and you might find yourself struggling to adjust for a few weeks. How can you make this transition easier?
Wake At The Same Time Everyday
Waking the kids up and setting your alarm back for the first school day of the year can be brutal. Try getting a head start by shifting your alarm and bedtime by 15 minute increments for a few weeks before you have to. It will pay off! If you need a better sleep system, let us know!
Plan Lunches
It seems like a chore to plan ahead, but getting your meals planned or even prepped for the week will have huge benefits. You will be much less likely to make impulse choices on sugary snacks or beverages when you have a balanced meal.
Allow For Surprises
Often, we find ourselves cramming our day with back to back meetings or errands. The problem is not everything is in our control or goes to plan. Try to allow some extra time in your schedule for that missing homework or lost car keys. When inevitable annoyances happen, they won’t cause so much stress and will have less of an impact on the rest of your day.
Leave Early
Leaving early for work or school is easier said than done, but just a few minutes can make a huge difference. Try to set a goal to leave 10 minutes early, even if you fall short, you’re still setting a good habit. That school zone slow-down won’t seem as much as an inconvenience, and you’ll probably get to work on time. Win win!
