Do you have a weight loss resolution in mind? You’re not alone! New Year’s Resolutions often include health goals. If you want to feel great in 2022, be sure to take your sleep seriously. There are a few things to consider!

Sleep Hormones

Did you know that a lack of sleep can increase your cravings? Without adequate sleep, your hormones can get out of whack. Specifically, appetite hormones like ghrelin and leptin can be affected, causing you to crave high-calorie foods. The general recommendation is that most adults get at least 7 hours of sleep per night.

Sleep Hygiene

Establishing good sleep habits is key to a healthy lifestyle. Turning off technology well before bedtime, avoiding caffeine late in the day, and going to sleep at a consistent hour are all positive steps to take. Once you’ve established a good routine, you’ll likely find that you have an easier time getting to sleep.

Weightloss Goals

A recent survey of 1,000 participants showed that “72% of those that got enough sleep found that they could stick to a diet plan, compared to just 42% of poor sleepers.” Simply having a sleep routine makes it easier to stay on track with your daytime goals as well. You’ll wake up feeling more alert and can get the most out of your day!
